The SBI2 provides 12 volt DC incorporating 100A of continuous ratings. It will protect the start battery from excessive discharge, whilst allowing the auxiliary battery to supply non-essential loads. The REDARC Smart Start® SBI2 is a microprocessor-controlled battery isolator used in dual battery systems as a solenoid priority system. There needs to be a very good reason to use something more complex. We use these units in MOST dual battery systems we fit. If your main battery goes flat, you can still start off the auxilary battery at the press of a switch (switch not included with the SBI12). The added bonus is these units can be fitted with a start override switch. All very simple and you don't have to think about it. Once the vehicle is started the alternator charge will go into the main battery until it is full and then the SBI12 will switch the charge to the auxilary battery. This means you can run your auxilary battery completely flat without affecting your starting (main) battery. This Redarc unit effectively isolates the auxilary battery from the main battery when the engine is off. For most people a simple dual battery manager is all that is required. There are many (many, many, many) ways of managing dual batteries ranging from very simple to incredibly complex. If you own any 4WD chances are sooner or later you will be fitting a dual battery system to run accessories like a fridge or compressor. The REDARC Smart Start SBI12 100A is a 12V DC 100A microprocessor-controlled, dual battery isolator designed to protect the start battery from excessive discharge while allowing the auxiliary battery to supply charge to non-essential loads.
